Pediatric
Our Mission
We strive to provide the finest total prenatal, pediatric and young adult care for patients with congenital or acquired heart disease or who have a positive family history for cardiac problems.
Our Skills
We provide prenatal, newborn, childhood, adolescent and young adult diagnostic and interventional cardiac care, including fetal echocardiography, prenatal counseling for all fetal heart problems.
Some of our Patient's Problems
Heart Murmurs
Atrial or ventricular septal defects
Aortic or pulmonic stenosis
Tetralogy of Fallot
Hypoplastic left or right heart syndromes
Chest pain
Fainting
Arrhythmias and palpitations
Prior heart surgery
Echocardiograms
Not all echoes are alike! We are experts in pediatric echocardiographic diagnosis. Our doctors are nationally known and our technicians have decades of experience obtaining perfect echocardiograms.
State of the art echocardiograms (a form of ultrasound) can even detect cardiac abnormalities at as early as 16 weeks of pregnancy.
Echocardiographic images are clear and provide detailed information to guide care
Doppler color can accurately map blood flow
No radiation or special anesthesia is necessary (as would be needed for X-ray CT or magnetic MRI studies)
Interventional Cardiac Catheterization
Now we can close intracardiac defects, open tight valves or use stents to keep vessels open in very young children, often eliminating the need for open heart surgery, previously required.
Fetal Diagnosis and Counselling
Knowing that your future baby's heart may need urgent care at birth ahead of time can make all the difference. We work closely with your obstetrician and perinatologist to carefully and completely define your expected baby's heart problems and help to plan the critical first few hours and days of life.
Children and Teen's Athletic Screening Program
Parents want to know if their child's heart can handle the rigors of intensive training and competition required of many of our young atheletes. Silent killers such as cardiomyopathy and long QT syndrome can be ruled out with comfortable but comprehensive cardiac screening. We provide echocardiograms, electrocardiograms (EKG) and cardiac stress testing for elective screening purposes.
Adult Congenital Heart Care
Many of our patients with complicated congenital defects and prior heart care need special management.
